Immunohistochemical Study for Estrogen and Progesterone Receptors in Endometriosis interna (Adenomyosis)

Abstract
Estrogen receptor(ER) and progesterone receptor(PR) were studied immunohistochemically using specific antireceptor monoclonal antibodies in uterine adenomyotic tissue samples from 40 women of pelviscopic hysterectomy.
The results of this study demonstrated that ER were detected in 19 of 40 cases(47.5%) and PR were detected in 15 of 40 cases(37.5%). Both of ER & PR were found in 11 cases(27.5%), ER(+) only were in 7 cases (17.5%) and PR(+) only in 3
cases(7.5%),
neither ER & PR were detected in 19 cases (17.5%) in adenomyotic lesion.
Of positive ER & PR cases, 5 cases showed to be strong positive to ER and 6 cases to PR.
The higher rate of positive ER & PR were shown in age group of 41-45 and no positive receptors can be detected below 35 age group.
The our results suggest the adenomyotic tissue has ER and PR, accordingly this lesions can be regarded as an Hormone dependent disease.
Therefore,t his disease can be controlled by hormone therapy such as danazol, GnRH-a.
